SEATINI’s MOU with EAC Parliament to promote gender responsive trade policies

The Southern and Eastern Africa Trade Information and Negotiations Institute (SEATINI) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the East African Legislative Assembly, to advance among others gender responsive trade policies.
Under the MOU that was signed on Friday 26th June in Arusha, SEATINI will deepen in its collaboration with EALA caucus in advancing gender responsive trade, Physical and investment policies.
This will be done through research, policy dialogue, technical capacity strengthening, resource mobilisation among others, according to Jane Nalunga, the executive director of SEATINI Uganda.
She added that both organizations will ensure that the EAC regional Integration process achieve measurable impact for the citizens of east African.
The partnership formalizes years of collaboration, particularly with the EALA Women’s Caucus, and provides a framework for strengthening legislative engagement on equitable trade, investment, and fiscal policies.
Commitments to be undertaken include
· Promoting gender-responsive trade policies;
· Addressing non-tariff barriers; and
· Creating an enabling environment where women entrepreneurs, young innovators, and small businesses can thrive.
