
A total of 500 students from different schools across the country are meeting at Gayaza High School for the 11th Annual School farm camp.
This year’s school farm camp, which is running under the theme Skilling the Youth in Climate smart Agriculture and Environment Conservation, is organized by Gayaza High School with support from URUS, Grow Project, Engineering solutions, NUCAFE, SUMZ among others.
According to Partick Muhinda the School farm camp coordinator, students will be taken through various sessions including livestock management for both cattle and poultry, urban farming. how to use the different machines on the farm, but also the selection of best dairy breeds.

The camp kicked off on Saturday where students were introduced to different urban farming methods and garden, selection of dairy animal breeds, a session that was led by Dr Willam Kabanda from URUS.
Agriculture mechanization training was led by the head of Agriculture department at Gayaza High School, while coffee value addition was led by Joseph Nkandu the executive director of the National Union of Coffee Agribusinesses and Farm Enterprises (NUCAFE) among others.

On Monday, students will be taken through school farm visits and value addition to agricultural products such as bananas, juice making, yogurt making among others.
While on Tuesday, which is the closing ceremony, schools with ground breaking innovations will be unveiled and awarded, added Muhinda.
